Thumbs up DecembeRadio Fantasy Survival Football

Interest in the DecembeRadio Fantasy Football league has been underwhelming at best. So much so that it might not happen due to not having enough teams.

But I have found a game that anyone who has even a passing interest in football can play, and it is so simple even a caveman can do it. It is called Fantasy Survival Football.

Here is how it works. You look at the games that will be played the first week. You pick one team that you think is going to win that week. If you are correct, you are still in the game and you pick again the second week, etc until the end of the season if you continue to pick a winner. However if you pick a team that loses that week, your fantasy football league season is over. The kicker is that you can only pick a team one time during the course of the season. So you can't chose the New York Jets every week because you think they are going to win every game.

[Example: If you picked the Jets to win the first week and they did, you'd pick a team in week two. The team you pick for the second week could be any team except the Jets. If you chose the Jets for week one and they lose, you are out of the game.]

Yep, the season could be over the first week. I set the team limit at the highest level which is 50 teams so hopefully at least some folks will survive a few weeks anyway.

So out of all those teams, we can only pick one team each week? Not one for each game?

That's right, you pick 1 team each week period. There is another league where you predict who will win each game, but survival is one team each week, and you can only pick a team once during the entire season. I guess you could pick whoever is playing the Dolphins. That would be a pretty safe bet most weeks.

Thanks! There are still 47 more slots, so Radioactivists sign up now while there is still time. You need to be on board before the first NFL game on September 4th.

O.K. so I'm really signed up right now,but no caveman remarks pleaseYou know this is a really interesting game,it's kind of like you have to pick the best of the worst at the beginning of the season.I don't have it straight in my head yet but this
game really calls for some interesting strtegies.

Bill: Okay thanks for signing up. You want to make sure you pick a winner, but you don't want to pick the best team in week one just in case you need them later on. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. My short term goal is to make it past round 1. Marvin

Sign up today. Don't delay. Only 45 slots remain. Tell your friends, family, and co-workers about the league.

I just found a nifty tool under commissioner tools that allows me to reset the group so that everyone is back in the game. So if we get to a point where everyone has gotten wiped out I'll reset the group and the fun will continue. I won't reset the group as long as at least one person is alive in the game.

May the best gut win!!!! I can reset the game if everyone gets eliminated before the end of the season. So throw caution to the wind and pick a team at random if you have to, just make sure you pick a team each week as long as you are in the game...

No one wanted to go with Dallas with me?

I guess the New England pick was one to get out of the way... or wait another week to see if they stack up without their brain behind center.

I'm taking the Giants this week.

Note to anyone who uses a "My Yahoo" home page: You can put your "Survival" team on your front page, front and center.

I got eliminated as well -- thanks to the very last play of the game. For some reason I was still able to make a pick for week 2 so we'll see what happens next. Maybe I'm now just playing for fun.

The game ended up being harder than I thought it would be.

Yeah, with the way the Rams looked last week, it shouldn't be a tough game.

The trick is to simply pick against either the Rams or the Chiefs.

And the winner is Sean, AKA Gridiron Union

Okay, since Sean (aka Gridiron Union) is the only team standing, he is the winner. I am going to reset the league so we can all play again.

Since you didn't come back in time to pick a team last weekend, you were automatically eliminated after the reset. I will not reset the game again unless we get down to one active player or everyone gets eliminated. So stay tuned to see if everyone gets eliminated or we get down to one active player. If the only player is Sean I'll probably let him play by himself until he gets eliminated or the season comes to an end.

The Weiner Wins

Okay "The Weiner" is the winner the second time around. I will be resetting the league once again so everyone will be back in the game. "The Weiner" is one of my alter egos. I had to enter a 2nd team so there would be enough teams for the league to run.

New players can join in the fun as well. You need to have a Yahoo account. Sign-in to your Yahoo account then click on the following link to sign up.

Survival Fantasy Football -- 2009

Do you want to play some type of fantasy football, but don’t have a lot of time?
Do you think you are pretty good at picking winning teams in football?
Do you just want to have some fun?

If any of the above applies, then Survival Football is for you. Each week, you choose one game that will be played and pick the winner. If you pick correctly, you move on to the next week. Choose incorrectly, and you receive a strike. After three strikes, your season is over. You can pick whichever game you want. The only catch is that you can only pick a team once to win during the course of the season. So, for example, if you pick Jacksonville in week one, you can’t pick Jacksonville to win for the rest of the season. Let me know if you have any questions. To sign up, go to the link below and enter the ID and Password for the league.
